Falmouth enjoys rare natural advantages. It is the 'first and last' port of the English Channel and possesses the world's third biggest natural harbour - which in turn adjoins the shipping lanes to N. Europe. It can serve vessels of unlimited size in Falmouth Bay.

Closer than you think Greatly improved communications have brought Falmouth much closer to the business and industrial centres of the UK & Europe. Continuous improvement of trunk routes and new roads and by-passes have made Britains motorway network easily accessible. There are scheduled daily flights between London,Stansted, and Newquay (approx 48 km from Falmouth),operated by Air South West & Ryan Air. Offering fuel oil, (incl low sulphur FO), gas oil, marine diesel by barge, the service is available 24 hrs a day 365 days a year. Delivery can be made off-shore in the deep and sheltered Falmouth Bay,or vessels under 203m LOA can be supplied in the Carrick Roads, which provides additional shelter from most wind directions. Porthoustock Quarry Porthoustock can accommodate vessels up to 82m LOA for loading stone cargoes for the inland and European markets. The yards engineering & auxiliary workshops can perform every type of machinery and hull repair, as well as replacement,reconditioning, and conversion work. There are specialist shops for carpentry,boiler and electrical work, pipe fabrication, instrumentation and so on. The yard boasts 3 dry docks and can accommodate vessels up to 100,000 DWT, as well as various wharves which can be utilised for repair, lay-by or discharge/loading. The yard has its own towage fleet consisting of three tugs, Max bollard pull 23T. In addition to ship repair, Falmouth Cargo Handling offers bulk and general cargo handling services with 8.8m draft alongside, and special facilities for cargo stowage during casualty repairs. Harbour Authority As a statutory harbour authority, Falmouth Harbour Commissioners administer much of Falmouth's port area, including its entrance. The outer harbour, known as Carrick Roads, offers sheltered anchorage in nearly all conditions vessels of deep draught and up to 203m LOA. The Harbour Commissioners are also keen to enhance Falmouth's appeal as an excellent sailing centre. Facilities here include a number of deep water moorings exclusively for visitors' use plus a Visitors Yacht Haven close to the town's shipping and administrative centre. Diving Services Sub Marine Services underwater inspection and engineering company carries out construction, demolition work, maintenance of ships hulls and semi-submersible platforms as well as providing various types of work vessels and floating plant. The Company is the only 'SCAMP' cleaning station in the UK, and based at Falmouth. SMS are approved by most classification societies including Lloyds Register of Shipping. Lay up facilities The River Fal boasts Britains cheapest 'parking' for laid up shipping. Carrick District Council is responsible for the River Fal which offers beautifully sheltered deepwater anchorage's for vessel laying up. The river can accommodate vessels up to 219m LOA , and ships are easily accessible by boat services from the river bank. Alternatively the lay-up moorings are an approximate 40 minute boat ride from Falmouth, and vessels can be supplied with gas oil and fresh water by barge.
